Consult with Parents
Parents
and school counselors correspond with one another to assist the
child/student about varying concerns such as new school registration and
transitions, special needs, family transitions, and crisis
situations. Studies have shown that children have
greater academic achievement when their parents are involved in their
child's education. Parental involvement is critical component in
helping a child become a successful student. Often, both
parents and counselors communicate information with one another that
support the needs of the student. Additionally, school counselors help
parents connect with the appropriate community resources, when the need
arises.
